Well whoever said life was easy wasn't a single mum of two twenty something girls!
Let me introduce myself, I'm, a 48 year old mum to two girls aged 27 and 21, one lives at home part-time, the other full-time and until last Friday we had a Jack Russell who sadly had to be put to sleep due to liver failure and a cat who now thinks she's the dog!
I kid you not, since the dog's sad demise, and believe me we cried for a week solid, my eyes have still not recovered, the cat has begun to behave like the dog did. Well apart from barking...if she did that I'd be onto the newspapers quicker than I can type this! She was always a bully to the dog, even though the dog was here first, she let her know what she thought by laying in wait for her and swiping her swiftly across the snout as she passed. It was funny to watch, not so funny for the poor dog.
Two weekends ago the dog started being sick and it was putrid...however, by Monday afternoon she was scoffing steamed chicken and rice asn lapping up all the attention. It's a bug, we thought...wrong! By Thursday, she had started again only this time it was just bile and so we got her to the vet, who diagnosed liver infection and gave her penicillin. Overnight though she worsened and by Friday morning I knew the end was in sight as she rapidly lost the ability to control her bladder and couldn't walk, then the seizures started and by the time we got her to the vet, it was too late...she was gone and had to be put to sleep.
So now the cat is acting just like the dog in that she stays around us all day, she limps with her rear leg, she begs and she hangs her head over the side of her bed! It makes me wonder if the dog is sat there whispering to her to do things to spook us! I just hope that wherever she is, she knows she was loved and she is missed like you wouldn't believe by us all...and yes, even the cat!
